3d print technology is an additive manufacturing process that allows users to create three dimensional objects from a programmed file. What is additive manufacturing process? The additive process to manufacture is layering materials used in 3d printing one after the other until an object is formed, the layers on inspection can be seen as horizontally-crossed thin slices of the intended object to be printed, in fact additive manufacturing is considered synonymous with 3d printing.
 

Plastic is perhaps the most common material used in 3d printing, especially by printers that uses FDM based 3d printing technology, plastic used in 3d print is available in both filament form or powder form. There are several types of plastic material but two kinds are used commonly, ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene)  and Polylactic Acid, PLA. the former is strong and flexible and quite durable used in the manufacturing of objects that possess a curved edge while the latter is used in the manufacturing of objects that have sharp edges due to its malleable quality.

Plastics are inexpensive and considered low cost materials, certain plastics lie the PLA is known for being environmentally friendly.Metal is another material heavily used in 3d printing for industrial grade printing, like in aviation where 3d print technology using metal for building planes have been used for quite a while due to the strength and durability metal possess.
